Block Party Plans? City Has Kit to Help
To boost community spirit, the city is encouraging residents to plan neighborhood block parties and has taken steps to ease planning.
The Block Party Planning Kit includes party ideas, information on safety requirements and application forms residents need for street barricades and signs.
City officials said that when streets are safely blocked, block parties are an ideal way to have a barbecue, garage sale, dance, sports event or holiday celebration.
The forms include boxes residents can check if they wish to have a representative from the Police Department come to discuss crime prevention or a Fire Department officials to visit with a truck or engine.
The approval process takes about two weeks.
Kits are available at the city clerk’s office, 1 Civic Center Circle.
