MedPartners Taps Southland Exec as President

MedPartners Inc., a Birmingham, Ala.-based health-care company, has named Mark L. Wagar president and chief operating officer. For the last year, Wagar has been president of Western operations for the firm, based in Long Beach. Wagar has been with the company since 1995, through the merger of Mullikin Medical Centers and MedPartners. Before joining Mullikin, Wagar was president of Cigna Health Care of California. MedPartners said Larry R. House will remain chairman and chief executive of the firm, the nation’s largest physician practice management firm.
