Fourth of July Activities and Events

Two parades and a number of fireworks displays are scheduled today at various sites in the San Fernando, Santa Clarita and Antelope valleys.

Some locations offer daylong activities including carnival rides and live entertainment.

At the following locations, admission is either free, or tickets are still available at the gate for events that have admission fees.

FIREWORKS

* Antelope Valley Fairgrounds, at Division Street and Avenue I, Lancaster. Gates open at 6 p.m.; entertainment begins at 6:15 p.m.; fireworks at 9 p.m. Free. Information: (805) 723-6077.

* Cal State Northridge North Campus, at Zelzah Avenue and Devonshire Street. Gates open at noon; entertainment begins at 1 p.m.; fireworks at 9 p.m. Admission is $8 general, $5 seniors and children ages 5 to 11. Free parking before 4 p.m.; after 4 p.m. parking is $3. Information: (818) 349-5680.

* Castaic Lake State Recreation Area, at the Golden State Freeway and Lake Hughes Road. Fireworks begin at 8:45 p.m. Admission is $20 per car. Information: (805) 257-4050.

* Crescenta Valley High School, 4400 Ramsdell Ave., La Crescenta. Gates open at noon for daylong carnival; fireworks begin at 9 p.m. Admission is $6 general, free for children 5 and younger. Information: (818) 248-4957.

* Hansen Dam Sports Center Amphitheater, on Foothill Boulevard and the Foothill Freeway. Carnival begins at noon today; fireworks at 9. Carnival admission is $5.95; fireworks are free. Carnival continues Saturday and Sunday. Information: (818) 756-7558.

* Recreation Park, 208 Park Ave., San Fernando. Family activities begin at 11 a.m.; entertainment at 2 p.m.; fireworks at dusk. Free. Information: (818) 361-7155.

* Palmdale High School, 2137 E. Avenue R. Gates open at 6:30 p.m.; entertainment begins at 7:30 p.m.; fireworks at 9 p.m. Free. Information: (805) 273-3232.

* Saugus Speedway, 25500 Soledad Canyon Road. Gates open at 5 p.m.; entertainment begins at 5:30 p.m.; fireworks at 9:30. Admission is $5 general, $3 for seniors and youngsters 7 to 18, free for kids 6 and younger. Information: (805) 259-4787.

* Valley College, 5800 Fulton Ave., Van Nuys. Gates open at 1 p.m. for daylong entertainment; fireworks begin at dusk. Free. Information: (818) 782-5539.

PARADES

* Sunland-Tujunga Independence Day parade begins at 10 a.m. at Foothill Boulevard and Mt. Gleason, travels west on Foothill Boulevard and ends at Sunland Park. Festivities at Sunland Park will run from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and include rides, petting zoo, entertainment and greased pole climb.

* Westlake Village Independence Day parade will step off at 9:45 a.m. at the former Westlake Medical Center on Lakeview Canyon Road, travel east on Agoura Road to Greengate Court, then on to Berniece Bennett Park, 31800 Village Center Road. Popsicles and balloons will be given out at the park.
