Whittaker Forms Firm in Health-Care Data Field

Whittaker Corp. in Simi Valley has formed a new company, Aviant Information Inc., to help health-care companies manage their data.
Company officials said Aviant enters the market with more than 350 major health-care customers serving hospitals in every major health network in the United States.
Aviant’s product, INFOnology, allows health-care companies to transmit and secure information across disparate computer networks.
“The critical nature of a health-care organization’s data . . . makes health-care computing especially demanding,” said Aviant President Andrew Rushmere. “Further, increasing specialization, fierce competition among hospitals and the recent surge in health-care-organization mergers continue to compound the challenges these organizations face.”
Aviant officials said the company wants to position itself between the two traditional resources that health-care organizations use to solve their information management needs: hardware/systems companies and high-level management consulting companies.
Aviant has its headquarters in Simi Valley and eight regional offices throughout the United States.
