Times Mirror Names 3 to Executive Posts

Times Mirror Co. named both Horst A. Bergmann and Kathryn M. Downing to the additional post of corporate senior vice president. The Los Angeles-based company, parent of The Times, also named Edward L. Blood vice president of strategic planning. Bergmann, 59, is chairman, president and chief executive of Times Mirror’s Jeppesen Sanderson and Times Mirror Training Inc. units. Downing, 44, is president and chief executive of its Matthew Bender & Co. and Mosby-Year Book Inc. units. Blood, 51, a chartered financial analyst, was a senior vice president of Darden Restaurants and has held a variety of positions at General Mills Inc. He will be responsible for strategic planning, working with Times Mirror senior management on growth and acquisition programs as well as investor relations communications programs.
