Walt Disney Co. today is expected to announce the promotion of Anne Osberg to president of Disney Consumer Products worldwide. The nine-year Disney veteran currently oversees the division in the U.S. and Canada.
Barton K. “Bo” Boyd, who has headed the consumer products unit since it was formed in 1985, is expected to become chairman.
Under Osberg’s purview will be the Disney Stores (now numbering more than 600), Walt Disney Records and Disney Interactive, in addition to licensing.
Sources say licensing efforts, including for “Winnie-the-Pooh” merchandise, have done well under Osberg but that the collectibles and children’s record businesses have disappointed.
Disney is based in Burbank.
