Mission College Picks Up the PACE

Students enrolled in Mission College’s Project for Accelerated College Education (PACE) can earn an associate’s degree at an even quicker pace now that the program has expanded from two-semester schedule to a trimester schedule.
PACE students, who currently take two courses one night a week during two nine-week semesters, can now take additional courses during the summer semester, said program director Gloria LaMonica.
In addition to weeknight classes, LaMonica said, students are required to attend four eight-hour Saturday conferences during each of the three nine-week sessions. Daytime courses are available for students who work at night, she said.
Traditional students who are not registered in the accelerated program generally complete their degree requirements in 2 1/2 to 3 years, LaMonica said.
Classes begin Aug. 16, LaMonica said, although registration continues through Aug. 20. The registration fee, which covers the cost of two classes, is $78.
PACE classes are taught on the Mission College campus as well as at off-campus sites in Chatsworth, Burbank and Sylmar.
