The night manager of a 24-hour fast-food restaurant was attacked in her car and robbed at gunpoint as she drove to the bank early Sunday in Simi Valley, authorities said.

Her attacker is still at large.

At about 3 a.m., the woman left the Taco Bell restaurant at 2360 Tapo St. to make a night deposit, Police Sgt. Karl Becker said. When she stopped for a red light at the intersection of Tracy Avenue and Cochran Street, a man with a large automatic pistol forced his way into her car, Becker said.

“He forced the victim into the passenger seat of her own vehicle, then drove it off the main street,” Becker said.

The man later struck the woman, bruising her face, and took the cash from her before fleeing on foot, Becker said.

“The victim yelled for help and adjacent neighbors came to her aid and notified police,” he said. She sought medical aid on her own.

Four officers and a police dog searched for the suspect, but they were not able to find him, Becker said.

The suspect is described as Latino, short and heavyset, wearing all black clothing.

The investigation is continuing.
