New York-based Maidenform Worldwide Inc. and NCC Industries Inc. said they are filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy court protection as the companies restructure their operations. . . . Wal-Mart Stores Inc. said it will close 48 of its 61 Bud’s Discount City stores and take a second-quarter pretax charge of $40 million to $50 million. Wal-Mart said it’s closing the stores because they didn’t meet business objectives. . . . General Motors Corp. is in line for a $1.08-billion order from Saudi Arabia’s National Guard to provide new components for more than 130 armored vehicles the Saudis already own, the U.S. Defense Department said. The auto maker’s Canadian subsidiary would provide 130 new gun systems and upgrade part of the vehicles’ suspension systems.
