High School District Picks 2 Principals

Oxnard High School District trustees on Wednesday selected new principals to oversee two schools.

Wayne Lamas, an assistant principal at Channel Islands High School, will replace Principal Jim Nielsen at Frontier High School, a continuation campus.

Nielsen will replace Principal John Triolo at Channel Islands High School. Triolo held the post for five years, but will leave to become superintendent at the Lone Pine School District in Inyo County.

Trustees also selected six new assistant principals: Yvonne Peck, an English teacher at Channel Islands High, will become an assistant principal at Frontier High; Ron Komatsu, an assistant principal at Frontier, will become an assistant principal at Adolfo Camarillo High School; Mike Vollmert, a Hueneme High science teacher, becomes an assistant principal at Rio Mesa High School.

Also, Kristopher Wong, a counselor at Rio Mesa, becomes an assistant principal at Channel Islands High School; Chris Gonzales, an assistant principal at Northern California’s Albany High School, takes a similar job at Channel Islands High School; and Phyllis Throckmorton, a coordinator of special projects at the Ventura County superintendent of schools office, becomes an assistant principal at Oxnard High.
