Hospitals Launch Fund-Raising Project
St. John’s Pleasant Valley Hospital in Camarillo and St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Oxnard have launched a $500,000 fund-raising campaign to upgrade the two facilities’ emergency services.
“This campaign is an opportunity for community residents to help strengthen a vital resource that is there for them 24 hours a day,” said H. Allen Hooper, medical director of emergency services at both hospitals.
Combined, the hospital emergency rooms serve more than 51,000 patients a year from Camarillo, Port Hueneme and Oxnard.
The funding will enable both hospitals to purchase new paramedic base stations and improve emergency room security.
It will additionally provide for a first-time triage assessment area in the emergency room at the Camarillo hospital. At the Oxnard hospital, the funding will pay for enlarging the emergency room triage assessment area and upgrading the emergency room computer system.
Individuals, families and businesses that donate to the campaign will be honored at a reception next spring.
