2 Sought in Robbery at Rapper Ice Cube’s Home

Two robbers broke into rapper Ice Cube’s house and stole an undetermined amount of cash, electronic equipment and a van--the latest in a string of home-invasion robberies at musicians’ homes in recent days, authorities said Saturday.

The latest incident occurred at about 2 a.m. Thursday at the residence under construction in the 4600 block of Petit Avenue, according to authorities.

The singer, whose real name is O’Shea Jackson, does not live in the house, said Det. Robert Johansen of the Los Angeles Police Department’s West Valley station.

However, Delbert Clement--a construction supervisor who was sleeping in one of the finished rooms--was awakened when the door to his room was forced opened, Johansen said. Two armed men taped Clement’s hands and mouth, handcuffed him and bound his legs with a phone cord.

One man watched Clement while the other ransacked the house, authorities said.

That incident was the most recent of four home-invasion robberies in the Valley--three at musicians’ homes--in 10 days.

Early July 15, robbers made off with about $57,000 worth of cash and jewelry in two incidents.

First, the girlfriend of Death Row Records’ founder Marion “Suge” Knight arrived with another woman at a house in the 23700 block of Brenford Street in Woodland Hills that belongs to Knight. They were confronted inside by an armed man and robbed of $50,000 worth of jewelry and cash.

About an hour later, a man coming home to a residence in the 5000 block of Calderon Road in Woodland Hills was robbed of $7,000 in his garage by two armed assailants.

Two days later, two men were arrested after pistol-whipping and robbing Carlos Cavaso--guitar player for the heavy-metal band Quiet Riot--at his house in the 4900 block of Kester Avenue in Sherman Oaks.

The robbers confronted him in the bathroom and tied his ankles and wrists with a phone cord before fleeing with a gold earring, a bracelet and $200.

In the latest incident, one of the assailants was described as an African American man, 25 to 30 years old, about 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing about 160 pounds, Johansen said. There was no description of the second.

It is not known if any of the robberies were related, Johansen said.
