The Vigilantes completed their first road sweep of the season by beating host Salinas, 4-2, in a Western League baseball game Sunday in front of an announced crowd of 1,655.

Willie Mosher, Sam Taylor and Carl Nichols each had two hits and drove in a run for Mission Viejo.

The Vigilantes were 5-4 on the trip, which is impressive considering they had previously won only five of 23 road games.

Taylor pulled the first pitch of the second inning over the fence in right to put the Vigilantes (7-6 in the second half) ahead, 1-0.

It was his team-leading 15th homer of the season and fourth of the trip.

Mike Moutrey and Mosher started the third with doubles and Bret Barberie singled in Mosher for a 3-0 lead.

Nichols then homered to left to open the fourth for a 4-0 lead.

Starter John Homan (1-0) kept Salinas in check for the first seven innings. He gave up no runs and three hits and struck out three.

Reliever Josh Gingrich gave up two hits and two runs in the eighth. He was relieved by Kirk Kishita, who gave up two hits before getting the final out of the inning on a groundout with runners on second and third.

Kishita then pitched a shutout ninth for his team-leading eighth save. It was also his second consecutive save in the series.

Derek Fahs (Fountain Valley High and Cal State Fullerton) worked two shutout innings for Salinas in relief of starter Scott Deremer (6-5), who took the loss.
