Boeing in Czech Deal

Boeing Co. said Tuesday that it signed a potentially lucrative contract to provide electronics, data and weapon delivery systems for planes in the Czech Republic’s Air Force.

Boeing’s Communications and Information Management Division will lead a multinational team of defense firms that will work on the $315-million contract. Boeing acquired the unit last December from Rockwell International Corp.

The equipment will be used to build a 72 fighter planes. The first of the aircraft is scheduled to be delivered to the Czech Air Force in 1999. Other subcontractors sharing the $315-million deal include AlliedSignal in Teterboro, N.J.; Flight Visions in Sugar Grove, Ill.; Dynamic Controls Hamilton Standard in Windsor Locks, Conn.; FIAR in Milan, Italy; and GEC-Marconi in Middlesex, England.
