Orange Coast Beats Riverside to Take 1st Alone

Orange Coast moved into sole possession of first place in the Orange Empire Conference with a 7-0 victory over visiting Riverside Tuesday in women’s soccer.

Megan Waters scored three goals and had an assist for Orange Coast (16-2-3, 10-0-1), which led at halftime, 3-0. Amanda Swafford had a goal and an assist and Emma Ekblad had two assists for the Pirates.

Andrea Neil and Kim Rudloff combined to make nine saves in the shutout for Orange Coast, which takes a three-point lead in the standings over idle Cypress (17-1-2, 9-0-1).

In Orange Empire Conference men’s soccer:

Irvine Valley 0, Fullerton 0--Richard Reyes had 12 saves to preserve the tie for Fullerton (8-9-2, 6-2-1).

Riverside 3, Orange Coast 0--Jason Hauck scored three second-half goals in a victory for Riverside (6-5-3, 5-3-1). Carlos Loza had five saves for Orange Coast (2-1-5, 2-6-2).

In nonconference men’s soccer:

Long Beach City 6, Cypress 3--Daniel Arreguin scored two goals for Cypress (5-9-2). Walter Buckeridge scored three times for Long Beach City (14-3-3).

In Orange Empire Conference women’s soccer:

Santa Ana 1, Golden West 1--Roxanne Packard’s second-half goal tied the score for Golden West (0-7-3 in conference). Chris Lopez scored late in the first half for Santa Ana (6-11-2, 0-8-2).
