Blood Drive Planned for Injured Deputy

Friends of a sheriff’s deputy critically injured in an off-road motorcycle accident have organized a community blood drive for his benefit.

The accident occurred while Deputy Jeff Moore was riding on a motocross track in Piru last month. He sustained severe lacerations to his face, as well as a collapsed lung, broken shoulder and pelvis, said Sgt. Roger Tusi, Moore’s patrol sergeant.

Moore is in an intensive care unit at the UCLA Medical Center, Tusi said. A three-year veteran on the department, Moore works on patrol out of the east county sheriff’s station in Thousand Oaks.
