STINGRAYS TODAY
Opponent--Seattle Reign.
Time--2 p.m.
Site--Mercer Arena, Seattle.
Records--Long Beach 5-3, Seattle 3-7.
Updates--The StingRays, hoping to end a two-game losing streak, get their first regular-season looks at two of the ABL’s prized rookies today: Seattle’s Kate Starbird and Shalonda Enis. Starbird, Stanford’s Naismith Award winner last spring, is averaging 14.2 points a game and had a professional career high of 22 in a loss last week to Colorado. Enis, 6-foot-1 power forward from Alabama, leads the Reign in scoring (15.3) and rebounding (7.4). Long Beach, after starting 2-0 on its four-city Eastern trip, was out of fuel by the time it reached Columbus and Hartford, finishing 2-2. Center Venus Lacy, who sat out the last three games because of a concussion suffered in Philadelphia, will play tonight. Guard Nicky McCrimmon sprained an ankle Tuesday in Hartford and won’t play today. These teams will play again Sunday at the Pyramid in a nationally televised game at 2 p.m.
