Santa Clarita Marathon

When: Sunday, 7 a.m.

Where: The 26-mile, 385-yard race will start at the Lang Station area in Canyon Country and wind its way through Saugus, Newhall and Valencia before finishing at the Valencia Town Center Mall. The course will pass Saugus Speedway, the California Institute of the Arts, College of the Canyons, Six Flags California and the Valencia Industrial Park during its route.

Facts and figures: The course drops 500 feet in elevation from start to finish.

* A 10-mile run, which starts and finishes at the Valencia Town Center Mall, will be held in conjunction with the marathon, starting at 7.

* A 1-kilometer kiddie run, which starts on Citrus Street between Valencia Blvd. and Magic Mountain Parkway and finishes at the Valencia Town Center Mall, will begin at 7:30.

* Race organizers estimate that 800 runners will start the marathon with another 300-400 in the 10-mile race.
