Incomnet Loses $9.6 Million Despite 21% Sales Growth

Woodland-Hills based Incomnet Inc. posted a net loss of $9.6 million in its third quarter, compared to a loss of $9.3 million a year earlier.

The telecommunications provider reported sales of $33.3 million for the three months ending Sept. 30, up 21% from $27.6 million a year ago.

For the nine months, Incomnet lost $7.2 million, compared with an $8.6-million loss in 1996, and generated revenues of $99.3 million, up 28% from $77.3 million.

Incomnet settled three lawsuits for more than $10 million this year, including one for “slamming,” or changing consumers’ long-distance phone service without their permission.
