Channel Islands Park Renews Boat Contract
Island Packers Co. has won renewal of its contract to provide boat service to Channel Islands National Park from the Ventura and Channel Islands harbors.
Island Packers has been the sole boat concession to the park for more than 25 years. Its contract was renewed for 10 years.
“Island Packers has been a part of this park since its inception,” said Tim Setnicka, Channel Islands National Park superintendent. “They have provided excellent public access and education for the thousands of people who annually go on their boats.”
Setnicka also announced that for the first time, the park has awarded a contract to a company to take the public to the park from Santa Barbara Harbor. Truth Aquatics was awarded that five-year contract.
The names of the two companies will be forwarded to Congress. The contracts are available for review for 60 days, after which final authorization will be issued to the companies.
