88% of Parents Say They Monitor Their Children’s Use of Internet Technology

When it comes to clamping down on some of the worrisome options available to Internet-savvy youths, parents may be more vigilant, another survey suggests.

In a poll of Southern California parents sponsored by Hitachi and the California and Los Angeles Chambers of Commerce, 88% said they are responsible for supervising their children’s use of the Internet and other technology. More than 70% said they would like a rating system for television and other home-based media, such as computers, to guide them in selecting information technologies for their children.
