Nearly a year and a half after Westminster was named an All-America City by the National Civic League, Vice President Al Gore will honor the local officials Tuesday at the White House.

Mayor Frank Fry Jr. and two other officials plan to attend a recognition ceremony, along with leaders from 30 All-America City winners nationwide.

“Even though it’s belated, it’s nice to get some recognition from the White House,” said county Supervisor Charles V. Smith, who was mayor in 1996 when Westminster won the award.
