Procter & Gamble Co. said it selected TeleVest, a unit of McManus Group, to handle all U.S. television advertising of its consumer-product brands. The company spends an estimated $1 billion a year on TV advertising. . . . True North Communications Inc.’s board rejected a $577-million cash and stock offer from Publicis for the 81.5% of the company that Publicis doesn’t already own, saying it prefers to pursue advertising acquisitions in the U.S. instead. . . . A federal judge rejected 3M Co.’s motion to dismiss a lawsuit filed by LePage Inc. that accused 3M of trying to monopolize the $275-million transparent-tape market. LePage’s lawsuit, filed June 11 in U.S. District Court in Philadelphia, claims 3M offered retailers big incentives and rebates on Scotch brand tape and other office products in exchange for a promise not to buy tape from LePage.
