Nintendo Co.’s U.S. arm is suing California publisher Prima Communications Inc., alleging that it violated copyrights on Nintendo’s GoldenEye 007 video game. Nintendo of America said it filed its copyright-infringement suit against Prima in federal court in Seattle. The suit claims that Prima’s unauthorized guide to GoldenEye 007, a game named after MGM Inc.’s James Bond adventure film, “blatantly copied” 20 maps from Nintendo Power magazine, which the game maker publishes, and its official GoldenEye strategy guide. The suit seeks an order prohibiting Prima from selling its GoldenEye guide, along with unspecified damages, including the publisher’s profit to date from the guide. Matt Carleson, chief operating offer of Rocklin-based Prima Communications declined to comment on the suit. Prima Communications also does business under the name of Prima Publishing, he said. Nintendo of America, based in Redmond, Wash., is a subsidiary of Kyoto, Japan-based Nintendo Co. It sells video games in the U.S., Canada and Latin America.
