Pfizer Agrees to Change Sun-Block Ads

Bloomberg News

Pfizer Inc. has agreed to change two advertisements for sun-block products after the National Advertising Division of the Better Business Bureau found the ads to be misleading. Print ads for Bain de Soleil Kids and Bain de Soleil Gentle Block, which are formulated to be long-lasting, will be changed. The ads say, “With one application, Bain de Soleil provides UVA and UVB protection for up to eight hours.” Pfizer said the NAD’s inquiry determined that the products didn’t live up to that claim. The NAD recommended that the New York-based drug maker make the ad copy more closely reflect the sunscreens’ test performance.
