City Council to Take Sessions to Districts

In an effort to make meetings outside of City Hall more commonplace, the City Council this week approved a tentative schedule for off-site council meetings each month through March 1999.

Exact locations in the 15 council districts have not been finalized by the city clerk.

At least five and perhaps as many as seven of the meetings will be held in Valley, city officials said.

The tentative schedule of Valley meetings includes:

* Jan. 13 in Councilman Joel Wachs’ 2nd District. Possible locations are the Lake View Terrace Recreation Center or the Sunland-Tujunga Municipal Building, officials said.

* May 12 in Councilman Mike Feuer’s 5th District, at Valley College, 5800 Fulton Ave., Van Nuys.

* July 21 in Councilman Hal Bernson’s 12th District, at Chatsworth Park South, 22360 Devonshire St.

* Sept. 15 in Councilwoman Laura Chick’s 3rd District, at either Pierce College in Woodland Hills or the Balboa Sports Center in Encino.

* Dec. 8, 1998, in Council President John Ferraro’s 4th District.

* Feb. 23, 1999, in Councilman Richard Alarcon’s 7th District, at Mission College, 13356 Eldridge Ave., Sylmar.

The tentative schedule will go back to the council Wednesday, when it is expected to include permanent dates and sites, city officials said Thursday.
