John Robert Moran; GTE Manager, Volunteer
John Robert Moran, a longtime manager for GTE, died Tuesday at his home in Camarillo. He was 80.
Moran, who was born April 5, 1917, in London, lived in Ventura County for five years.
He was a member of Padre Serra parish, and a volunteer for and participant in the Braille Institute-Ventura County Outreach Program. He also was a past member of the Masonic Lodge in Long Beach and Rotary International in Downey.
At the time of his death, Moran was serving on the board of directors of Long Beach-based Independent Telephone Pioneer Assn., for which he had also served several terms as president.
Moran is survived by his wife Donna, daughter Lynda Wells of Camarillo and one granddaughter.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Padre Serra Catholic Church, Camarillo. Private interment will follow at Pierce Brothers Valley Oaks Memorial Park, Westlake.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Braille Institute-Ventura County Outreach Program, 2031 De La Vina St., Santa Barbara 93105, or Padre Serra Parish Building Fund, 5205 Upland Road, Camarillo 93012.
Arrangements are under the direction of Pierce Brothers Griffin Mortuary, Camarillo.
