Bus Stop to Remain for Another 3 Years

The owner of Dad’s Liquor won approval this week to continue allowing Greyhound buses to drop off and pick up passengers in front of his store.
The Planning Commission agreed 5 to 0 to allow the bus stop at 2421 S. El Camino Real for another three years. Commissioners Joe Oliver and John Tengdin were absent.
The bus stop, which accommodates passengers traveling between Los Angeles and San Diego, was established in September 1995, moving from a site in front of Carl’s Jr. on El Camino Real. Officials selected the new site because Greyhound needed a vendor to sell its tickets. About 12 buses a day load and unload passengers from 7 a.m. to 9:20 p.m.
About a year ago, complaints about buses blocking the sidewalk prompted the city to require liquor store owner Peter Rock to obtain a special permit. Operators of the nearby La Vista Motel complained about exhaust and broken sidewalks.
But Rock gathered about 170 signatures from residents who said they did not object to the bus stop.
