Church Holds Thanksgiving Service

St. Wilfrid of York Episcopal Church will host its annual Thanksgiving dinner at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Sacquety Hall. Everyone is asked to bring a dish to share; baked turkey will be provided. Placentia United Methodist Church will have a Thanksgiving Eve service at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. Pastor Glenn Miller’s message will be “Results of a Thankful Spirit.” There will be performances by the hand-bell and chancel choirs. Child care will be available. Father Mike Manning will give the message “We Thank You, Lord” during the pre-Thanksgiving healing Mass and service at 7:30 p.m. Monday at St. Angela Merici Catholic Church. Manning is founder and director of the Help the Children Here program, which aids abused children. Music will be provided by RUACH, Catholic Praise Band and Paul Dobies. The church is at 585 S. An Alternative Christmas Faire will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Sunday at First Presbyterian Church of Fullerton. Participating organizations include Third World Hand Arts, Habitat for Humanity, the Heifer Project and Fullerton Interfaith Emergency Service. Rabbi Arnold Rachlis will speak on “Ragtime and the American Jewish Experience” at 8 p.m. Friday at the University Synagogue. Rachlis will discuss the hardships and successes of Eastern European Jews as they lived in America.

The synagogue, along with Irvine United Church of Christ, will have an interfaith pre-Thanksgiving service at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. Sts. Simon and Jude Catholic Church will have its annual Community Thanksgiving service at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. Leaders from St. Wilfrid of York Episcopal Church and Lutheran Church of the Resurrection will take part in the service. Members from the church choirs will combine for the service and will be accompanied by organ, brass and percussion.

Bob and Yvonne Turnbull will speak on “How Our Bad Marriage Became a Good Marriage” at 9:30 a.m. Sunday at Mountain View Church. United Methodist Church of Garden Grove will host the second annual Interfaith Community Thanksgiving Observance at 7 p.m. Wednesday. Naomi Judd of The Judds will talk about her new cookbook, “Naomi’s Home Companion” during the 9:30 and 11 a.m. worship services at The Crystal Cathedral.
