Kids’ Book Festival a Huge Success

* A great big public “Thank You!” to the Friends of Simi Valley Library, the Simi Valley Library staff, the Ventura County Reading Assn., Bugle Boy Industries and the Rotary Club of Simi Sunrise for a wonderful Children’s Book Festival. There are more businesses and individuals to thank--far too many to mention here--but on behalf of my family and myself, thank you for your generosity and hard work putting this event together.

I attended the festival with four young ladies, ages 7 and under. No one wanted to leave--even when lunchtime came and went and we had been at the library for over three hours. We enjoyed presentations by local authors and illustrators Mary Ann Fraser and Evelyn Gallardo, among others, the chance to make fun crafts, hearing storyteller Michael D. McCarty’s outrageous tales from around the world--there was so much to do and see. We couldn’t possibly get to it all.

I hope this Children’s Book Festival was the first of many.
