Mighty Duck forward Shawn Antoski suffered a depressed skull fracture in a one-car accident early Monday morning and is listed in serious but stable condition after undergoing surgery at Western Medical Center in Santa Ana.

Antoski, 27, was riding in the passenger seat of a rented 1996 Ford Mustang driven by Antoski’s cousin, according to authorities and team officials. Witnesses told officers that the sports car was speeding and driving erratically before it slammed into a center concrete divider on the northbound Costa Mesa Freeway about 1:50 a.m. Monday.

The driver, Shawn Michael Hall, 27, of Toronto, was being held Monday at the Orange County jail in lieu of $25,000 bail on suspicion of felony drunk driving.

Antoski’s fiance, Lee Ann Potter, 25, suffered cuts and bruises in the crash and was briefly hospitalized, according to Highway Patrol officer Bruce Mauldin.

Antoski, a 6-foot-4, 235-pound left wing who has one goal in nine games this season, sat out the last three games because of an abdominal strain.

Duck Coach Pierre Page said he would reserve judgment until he knew all the facts.
