Nonlethal Weapons on Police Shopping List
Nonlethal weapons are among the purchases planned by the Seal Beach Police Department from its share of a $100-million statewide grant.
Chief Mike Sellers told City Council members Monday that the department will buy weapons that fire rubber bullets, giving officers more options. The department also will buy red plastic guns for training programs, crime-scene investigation kits for patrol officers and ballistic vests.
The funds were granted to the Police Department through the state’s Citizens Option for Public Safety program. The funds are earmarked for “front line municipal police services.”
