Share

Two men were wounded Saturday when an unknown assailant opened fire with a handgun as they stood on the corner of Redwood Avenue and Kettering Street, according to Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies.

One of the victims, a 22-year-old Lancaster man, was airlifted to Providence Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills, where hospital officials listed him in stable condition. The other, a 23-year-old Lancaster man, suffered a minor wound and was taken by ambulance to Antelope Valley Hospital Medical Center. Sheriff’s deputies would not identify the men.

At 5:05 p.m. the assailant got out of a red Ford Thunderbird, shot the two men, got back in the car and sped off with at least one other man, said Sgt. John Lowe of the Sheriff’s Department.
