Christine Walker Gordon was newly arrived from New Zealand when she decided to explore her new country. And what could be more American than turkeys? She found these on a farm after taking a wrong turn en route from Salt Lake City to Arches National Park. “When I saw the turkeys, I just had to stop,” she recalled. She figures she visited 46 states in about nine months, all driving solo. Today she lives in Marina del Rey and owns a company that produces baked goods and children’s products, including dolls.
