Body of Drowning Victim Recovered
Rescue workers on Tuesday recovered the body of a 30-year-old Port Hueneme man who apparently drowned in Lake Piru on Sunday, coroner’s officials said.
The body of Ulises Anthony Mendoza surfaced Tuesday morning, officials said.
He was last seen struggling in the water while swimming with family members near their boat about 2 p.m. Sunday.
Mendoza was swimming in 18 feet of muddy, choppy water when he slipped under the surface, officials said.
Divers and a team of Ventura County Sheriff’s Department rescue workers searched the lake on Sunday and Monday for Mendoza’s body.
