Musician Arrested in Child Support Case
A traveling mariachi musician who allegedly owes more than $73,000 in back child support for his four teenage children has been arrested and jailed, Dist. Atty. Michael D. Bradbury announced Thursday.
Jose Compos Aguilar, 38, who was included on Bradbury’s list of “Most Wanted Deadbeat Parents” in 1996, was arrested Saturday while playing music in a bar in Guadalupe in Santa Barbara County. Aguilar had eluded authorities since a warrant was issued for his arrest in March 1994, Deputy Dist. Atty. Ron Carpenter said.
Aguilar pleaded not guilty during a Wednesday arraignment and faces a jury trial scheduled for Oct. 24. He was being held in Ventura County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bail.
