City Might Provide Fuel to School District
- Share via
City leaders are considering providing fueling services for school buses and other vehicles of the neighboring Savanna School District.
The 2,100-student district, which has three schools in Anaheim and one in Buena Park, is removing its own underground fuel storage tanks. The district has four buses, which need fuel once a week, and eight maintenance vehicles, which are refueled every two weeks.
Savanna Assistant Supt. Marie Plakos said new safety regulations require removal of the district’s fuel storage tanks, which will not be replaced.
Stanton City Manager Terry Matz said the proposed arrangement would place more demands on already overloaded city staff members and raises questions about liability.
But Councilman David John Shawver said the partnership could help modernize the city’s fueling operations and lower the overall cost of fuel.
