Patterson Helps Power Cypress Past Anaheim, 22-15

ANAHEIM — Kelly Patterson rushed for 139 yards in 17 carries as Cypress beat Anaheim, 22-15, Friday night at Glover Stadium.
After Anaheim’s Fred Cortez 18-yard field goal made it 3-0, Patterson broke loose and weaved 74 yards to give the Centurions their first lead with 6 minutes 25 seconds remaining in the quarter.
Patterson gained 104 yards in eight carries in the first half.
Cypress would increase its lead to 16-3 on three consecutive Thome field goals--32, 38 and 39 yards.
He hit the 38-yard field goal with two seconds left in the first half to put Cypress ahead, 13-3.
Cypress appeared to clinch the game late in the third quarter when Jeff Crooks passed 13 yards to Chris Castro for a 22-3 lead.
Anaheim (0-4) came back with two quick scores early in the fourth quarter.
Robert Ramirez passed 16 yards to Tru Nguyen with 10:27 remaining in the quarter to cut the lead to 22-9.
After Anaheim’s Alex Ucelo recovered an onside kick, Ramirez scored from one yard out four plays later.
