DEVILISH SCRIPT
Regarding “Devil in a Blue Dress” (Letters, Sept. 21):
As capable as Carl Franklin is as a director, his film stumbled badly because it was saddled with a subpar script pure and simple. This is why the film never had a chance and failed at the box office.
The failure of “Devil in a Blue Dress” had far more to do with its artistic shortcomings than it did with a failed studio marketing effort.
