YARC Processor Selected by Japanese Company

YARC Systems Corp. of Newbury Park says its raster image processor has been selected by Roland Digital, a Japanese manufacturer of high-resolution, wide-format color printers, as the preferred processor for its Cammjet sign-making machines.

The Cammjet has the ability to print on vinyl, using water-resistant outdoor inks, and can cut outlines in the vinyl so images can be used as decals or labels, said Trevor Marshall, YARC president and chief executive.

“Acceptance of our [processor] by Roland is the first of what we believe will be a series of partnerships with printer manufacturers,” Marshall said, adding that Hewlett-Packard Co. in Japan previously announced its support of the product, and evaluation units have been supplied to Graphtec Corp. in Japan, Selex Systems USA, OE Canon in Canada and CalComp, Graphtec and OCE in Europe.

The raster image processor is an add-on board that plugs into any Apple Macintosh computer and turns it into a full-featured PostScript print server. Raster processors convert PostScript graphics and text into high-resolution images that can be output on film, paper or other media.
