$1 Taxi Rides Available for Metrolink Passengers

Share

The city will spend $15,000 in the next year to offer a $1-a-ride taxi service to shuttle Metrolink passengers to and from their homes and businesses.

After a nine-month trial, the City Council recently authorized the Taxi Link service, which will be paid for with special transportation funds. About 20 passengers per day used the service during the trial, which was financed by the South Coast Air Quality Management District, city officials said.

City officials said they are hoping to persuade more people to use the service.

For Metrolink passengers, the service can be arranged by calling (626) 858-7235. Passengers can call ahead on their way to the city and the taxi will be waiting for them at the station. Or they can call from a home or elsewhere and be taken to the station.

Covina hopes the service will lure shoppers to Covina. The taxi service is provided by Diversified Paratransit Inc., which provides dial-a-ride services to Covina residents with disabilities.
