Spotlight: Netscape to License Software to the Government

Mountain View-based Netscape Communications Corp. said it will license its software to the Defense Department, landing its largest-ever government contract as it seeks corporate and institutional customers. Netscape’s software has security features used by Pentagon employees to retrieve and share information across their computer network and the Internet. The multimillion-dollar contract includes options for several years. Other terms weren’t disclosed.
