Two Technology Firms Report Gains in Revenue and Income

PairGain Technologies Inc., designer and manufacturer of telecommunications systems, reported net income of $11.8 million, or 16 cents a share, for the third quarter, a 39% increase from the $8.5 million, or 11 cents a share, for the like period last year. Revenue was up 29% to $70.7 million from $54.6 million.

Net income for the first three quarters of the year totaled $34.9 million, or 46 cents a share, 59% higher than the $22 million, or 30 cents a share, recorded for the comparable nine months of 1996. Revenue advanced 46% to $207.8 million from $142.4 million.
