A Colorado man was in the Ventura County Jail on Thursday awaiting arraignment on charges of robbing a bank near Boulder.

Daniel Lee Caner, 45, was arrested Wednesday afternoon in Camarillo after local authorities got a tip from the FBI that he was planning to rob a bank in Ventura County, Sheriff’s Capt. Dave Tennessen said.

Caner and a friend, Charles Smart, 38, of Broomfield, Colo., were stopped near the Ponderosa Shopping Center on Arneill Road and Barry Street, Tennessen said.

Both men were arrested--Caner on an outstanding warrant involving the robbery in Colorado and Smart on an unrelated warrant in Ventura County.

Caner will likely be extradited to Colorado to face bank robbery charges and Smart will face a judge for a probation violation, Tennessen said.
