Sports Park a Priority in Master Plan
The city has updated its parks master plan through 2020, identifying a 36-acre sports complex as a priority.
The Parks, Recreation, Human Services, Open Space and Conservation Master Plan is the product of nearly a year of meetings and community input.
Officials said they hope the early phases of the sports complex, which may include lighted baseball, football and soccer fields, basketball and roller hockey courts, will be finished by 1999.
The complex would be mostly financed through a deal with Orange County that paid Brea nearly $10 million for use of the Olinda landfill for the next 15 years.
