Editor & Publisher, a trade journal for the newspaper industry replete with mug shots of newspaper executives, complained that its printer refused to print an ad showing bare-breasted women that was being used to illustrate a story about a controversy involving an alternative newspaper in Arizona. E&P; ran the story in its Saturday issue with a statement in the space reserved for the photo. It said, “XXX Image Deleted XXX. Cadmus Journal Printing refused to print in this space a published newspaper ad showing bare-breasted dancers.” Cadmus said the illustration was against its corporate values. E&P; said it considered switching printers, but two other printing companies told it they would not handle the picture either.
