Disposal Firm Shows Words Not Wasted

Share

Employees at SOLAG Disposal have been practicing what they preach.

Instead of dropping more than 2,300 pounds of white office paper and 3,826 pounds of mixed paper, plastic, glass and aluminum cans into the trash in 1996, the waste hauling company recycled it.

The California Integrated Waste Management Board recently awarded the company through its Waste Reduction Awards Program. The company entered the program in 1993, and is one of 15 Orange County firms honored this year.

As part of the recycling effort, SOLAG employees used the backsides of documents for scratch paper. They printed copies on both sides of paper and replaced disposable foam cups with personalized ceramic mugs provided by the company’s president, Jim Koutroulis.
