Three people suspected of operating marijuana farms out of homes were arrested Friday by Sheriff’s Department narcotics detectives.

More than 100 plants growing in an indoor hydroponic nursery were found on the first floor of a two-story house at 21662 Wohelo Trail in the rugged hills above Chatsworth, said Sheriff’s Deputy Mark Bailey.

Equipment and materials used to dry and package marijuana were discovered during a search of a second home, at 9802 Farralone Ave., Bailey said. Detectives also found a large amount of cash and a loaded handgun at the second house.

Two men and a woman were arrested during the searches, but their identities had not been released by detectives, who were continuing the investigation.

Bailey said the arrests Friday were unrelated to the discovery within the last month of similar pot farms in the Chatsworth area. Hundreds of marijuana plants growing indoors were confiscated in September from another house in the hilly area known locally as Twin Lakes.
