A gunman opened fire on two friends after an argument, killing one and wounding the other in the 600 block of East Windsor Road, police said.

Levon Barsegian, 32, of Los Angeles was shot once in his upper chest Friday night, killing him. His friend Sirekan Agekian, 35, of Glendale was shot in the stomach and was in stable condition at County USC Medical Center on Saturday night.

Police were looking for Stepan Kozmanian, 38, a Glendale truck driver, who is suspected of shooting the men.

Agekian and Kozmanian lived in the apartment complex where the shooting took place, said Glendale police spokesman Rick Young. Neighbors told police both men were kick-boxers and had been heard debating who was the better fighter.

At 11 p.m., the rivals were heard arguing again in the manager’s office near the complex’s swimming pool. Kozmanian allegedly shot Agekian with a pistol, seriously wounding him.

Witnesses told police that Agekian staggered out of the office and into the pool area, and that Kozmanian fled around the side of the apartment building.

Barsegian, a friend of Agekian’s, ran after the assailant, police said. But Kozmanian stopped, turned and shot him to death, police said.

Glendale Crime Stoppers has offered a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the suspect. The number is (818) 507-7867.
