Goodson, Staley All the Rage in a Home-Opening Victory

Adrienne Goodson scored 24 points and Dawn Staley added 20 points and 12 assists as Philadelphia defeated the visiting Atlanta Glory, 107-80, on Sunday night in the Rage’s opener at its new home.

Staley was four for five from three-point range in her first pro game in her hometown before 5,312. The Rage (2-0) played in Richmond, Va., in the ABL’s first season.

The Rage also got double-figure scoring from Beth Morgan, who had 14 points, and Taj McWilliams, who had 10 points and 13 rebounds. Teresa Edwards led the Glory (1-2) with 34 points.

Columbus 91, New England 71--Katie Smith scored 22 points and Andrea Lloyd added 16 as the Quest beat the Blizzard at Springfield, Mass., before 3,802.

Columbus, the defending ABL champion, opened the fourth quarter with a 16-4 run, with Jannon Roland making two of her four three-point shots.

The Quest (1-1) shut down Blizzard star Carolyn Jones, holding her to 14 points.

Portland 82, San Jose 66--Natalie Williams had 19 points and nine rebounds and Katy Steding added 17 points for the visiting Power in front of 3,406 at San Jose.

Williams, who had 25 points in the season opener, scored six in the second quarter as the Power (2-0) closed with a 7-2 spurt to take a 36-31 halftime lead.

Seattle 79, Colorado 62--Former Stanford stars Kate Starbird and Val Whiting scored 16 points each as the Reign beat the Xplosion before 3,756 at Seattle.

Seattle (1-2), playing in its home opener, used an 8-0 run in the third quarter to put the game away. Former Reign Tari Phillips led Colorado (0-2) with 18 points.
